Online screen recorder — no download needed

SpeakAndRecord's screen recorder uses the browser's getDisplayMedia API to capture your screen, a specific window, or a single browser tab — all without installing any software. When you click Start Recording, your browser shows a built-in dialog to select what to capture. Once you confirm, recording begins immediately and the timer counts up.

You can optionally include microphone audio. When enabled, the app requests microphone access and mixes it with the display stream using the AudioContext API, producing a single video file with both screen video and your voiceover. This is ideal for creating tutorials, feedback recordings, or demo videos.

When you click Stop, the recording is immediately available for playback in the preview player and for download as a WebM file. WebM plays natively in Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, and can be converted to MP4 using HandBrake or other free tools. No data is uploaded — the entire process happens inside your browser.

Can I record audio with my screen?
Yes. Toggle the "Include microphone audio" option before starting. The system audio (tab audio) may also be captured depending on what you select in the browser's share dialog.
What video format is the output?
WebM with VP8 or VP9 video and Opus audio. This format is widely supported and produces high-quality, small files. You can convert to MP4 with HandBrake for broader compatibility.
Does it work on Safari?
Safari does not currently support getDisplayMedia for screen recording. Please use Chrome, Edge, or Firefox on desktop. Mobile screen recording is not supported in any browser due to OS restrictions.
Is there a time limit?
No. You can record as long as you need. The only limits are your device's available RAM and storage for the recording buffer.
